Consultant-Led 4D Baby Scan
Performed by an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist & Obstetrician.
Consultant-led appointment
With us, your scan is performed by an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist/Obstetrician rather than as a standalone imaging appointment.
You have the opportunity review your health and to discuss your pregnancy, ask questions, review any concerns and receive specialist advice during the same visit—something that is not usually available as part of a standard private 4D baby scan.
Pregnancy is one of life’s most special journeys.
While routine pregnancy scans are essential for monitoring your baby’s health, a 4D Baby Scan gives you something extra—the chance to truly meet your little one before birth. Seeing your baby’s face for the first time is one of pregnancy’s most emotional moments.
Our aim is to combine that unforgettable experience with the reassurance of consultant-led medical care.

More than a baby scan
If you have any questions about your pregnancy, your appointment can also include a clinical assessment by your Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist.
Depending on your individual needs, this may include discussion of:
- your pregnancy progress
- any symptoms or concerns and opportunity to discuss your pregnancy during the appointment
- baby’s development
- previous pregnancy complications
- planning ongoing care where appropriate
This means your appointment offers far more than simply viewing your baby’s face—it combines the excitement of a 4D baby scan with access to specialist consultant care in a single visit.
Your pregnancy check-up during the same appointment
One of the rare advantages of choosing us is that your appointment is led by a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist.
If you have questions about your pregnancy or would like a specialist assessment, these can often be discussed during the same visit. If any additional examinations or investigations are appropriate, your consultant will explain the available options.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best time to have a 4D Baby Scan?
The ideal time is between 26 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. During this stage your baby’s facial features are well developed, while there is usually still enough amniotic fluid to produce beautiful 4D images. Although, it is possible to have the scan at different stages of the pregnancy as well.
Is a 4D Baby Scan safe?
Yes. Ultrasound has been used safely in pregnancy for many decades. Our scans are performed using modern medical ultrasound equipment by an experienced Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist following current professional guidance.
Why choose a Consultant-led 4D Baby Scan?
Unlike many private baby scan providers, your appointment at Phoenix Women’s Health is performed by an experienced Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist. This means you can enjoy the excitement of seeing your baby in stunning 4D while also benefiting from specialist pregnancy expertise and the opportunity to discuss your pregnancy during the same visit.
What if my baby is not in a good position?
Babies don’t always cooperate! If your baby is covering their face with their hands, feet or is facing your back, image quality may be limited. We may ask you to change position or take a short walk to encourage your baby to move. While we always do our very best, no clinic can guarantee perfect images as every pregnancy is unique.
